民国时期，女警探芸曼为查辖区内两起离奇命案，假扮探亲女子来到湘西梧桐村，夜行山路时遇诡异纸船与赶尸人 还结识奎爷，二人同行并立下"三不"规矩。进村后，村中处处诡异，村民安伯邀他们住祠堂。芸曼察觉安伯言辞闪烁，傻子王二狗见她发狂。得知村中渔夫乔三，瓦匠陈四惨死且乔三尸体失踪，村民传是行尸索命。奎爷和芸曼查得玲玉曾被乔三，陈四，安伯等人以"祭洞神"之名活埋，而玲玉父亲水师傅是湘西赶尸 人，他伪装"行尸索命"为女复仇，害死乔三，陈四，安伯。最终，水师傅启动山洞机关欲同归于尽，却在山洞崩塌时救了芸曼，自己身亡。曼与奎爷站在玲玉坟前，感叹正义永存。

The plot follows six strangers who enter a cash-prize endurance challenge at the Val Verde Hotel, a location infamous for a fatal explosion and rumors of being haunted. Instead of being stalked by a physical, masked serial killer, the contestants face immersive, supernatural scares when the hauntings at the hotel turn out to be all too real.
